- Prepare of 200ml heavy/double cream.
- You need of cracked black pepper.
- You need of fresh red chili OR 1 heaped tsp dried chili flakes.
- You need of fresh OR dried mixed herbs.
- Prepare of chicken stock cube.
- It's of garlic bread to serve.
- Prepare of oil to fry with.
Jonnys pasta Carbonara. step by step
- following manufacturers instructions, pre-heat oven for garlic bread.
- in kettle, boil enough water to cover pasta.
- wash and slice mushrooms.
- roughly chop up bacon, onion, chili and garlic.
- add garlic bread to pre-heated oven.
- put pasta in a pot and cover with boiled water from kettle, re-boil and reduce heat to simmer.
- heat oil in a pan to medium/high heat, add mushrooms, onion, bacon, chili and garlic, fry until bacon is cooked.
- add cracked black pepper and mixed herbs to pan, fry for a further minute.
- add cream to pan, reduce heat to low/medium. stirring when needed to prevent cream from forming a skin.
- after a further 2 or so minutes, add the stock cube to the pan and continue cooking and stirring until the pasta is ready.
- when pasta is cooked, drain and add to pan with carbonara sauce, mixing thoroughly, serve immediately with garlic bread (and grated cheese in desired).
